Because the alkoxy group is hydrolyzed to generate silanol SiOH, and the silanols are further condensed to obtain a silicon-oxygen chain, which makes the surface structure of the material compact and the mechanical properties are changed. It can be combined with glass, silicon dioxide, metals and their oxides, etc. The surface of inorganic substances produces chemical and physical bonds, and carbon functional groups can form chemical bonds with organic materials such as organic resin rubber, so they can be used to increase the interface bonding between inorganic and organic substances and improve the performance of the composite.

Its cross-linked modified polyurethane is usually divided into two steps: the synthesis of polyurethane prepolymer and the synthesis of silane-terminated polyurethane:
(1) polyamide reacts with a certain amount of diisocyanates such as MDI or IPDI to obtain Polyurethane, by selecting m(NCO)/m(OH)>l or <1 to prepare polyurethane prepolymers whose end groups are NCO or OH.
(2) Add functional organosilane for reaction, the end group is NCO prepolymer, and hydrogen active organofunctional silane [such as N-phenyl-(-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane)] can be added; the end group If it is a prepolymer of OH, add an organic functional silane active with isonitrogen acid (such as gamma-isoalcyl-propyltrimethoxysilane) for reaction, so that the terminal group of the polyurethane prepolymer is connected with a hydrolyzable silane. Its curing mechanism is very similar to silicone sealant, but the cost is reduced, and its application prospect is very broad.
